Coffee Tip of the Day

Perfecting Your Pour-Over Technique

To brew a stellar pour-over coffee, start by investing in a quality burr grinder and a gooseneck kettle. Freshly ground beans are essential for capturing the full flavor spectrum.

Aim for a medium-coarse grind, similar to sea salt, to ensure even extraction. Pre-wet your filter with hot water to remove any paper taste and to warm up your dripper.

Pour your hot water (between 195°F to 205°F) in a slow, circular motion, starting from the center of the grounds and spiraling outwards. This allows for an even saturation of coffee.

Pause to let the coffee "bloom"—a process where gases escape, usually lasting about 30 seconds. Continue pouring in small, steady amounts, maintaining a consistent flow rate.

This methodical process can take 3-4 minutes and yields a clean, flavorful cup every time.
